Patty's Place is one of the most welcome recent openings in downtown Burgaw: a bright, busy brunch spot serving classic breakfast staples, a few more playful menu ideas, and enough lunch options to make it worth a stop beyond the morning rush.

Patty's Place feels like exactly the kind of restaurant downtown Burgaw needed. It is casual enough for a quick breakfast, polished enough to feel like a real brunch outing, and broad enough on the menu to work whether you want pancakes and eggs or something a little closer to lunch.

We went for the pancake tacos and the avocado toast, and both were excellent. The tacos are the kind of menu item that could have easily been a gimmick, but they completely work. Eggs and pancakes are already a good idea on the same plate, and Patty's Place just skips the formality and puts them together. If it is your first visit, that is the order I would point you toward without hesitation.

The hashbrowns also deserve more credit than a side dish usually gets. They were well seasoned, fried hard enough to get that satisfying crunch, and honestly one of the more memorable parts of the meal. It is a small detail, but small details are usually what separate a place you try once from a place you come back to.

Coffee was simple and solid, with free refills for anyone who just wants a reliable black coffee and a full cup while they sit for a while. They also have a broader coffee and mimosa menu that gives the place a little more brunch energy, even if we kept it straightforward on this visit.

Inside, Patty's Place strikes a nice balance. The renovation feels fresh, but it does not scrub away the character of the building. The rustic brick walls still do a lot of the work, and the updated interior gives it a clean, welcoming feel without making it seem too precious. It was busy when we went, which is usually a good sign for a new spot, but service stayed friendly and smooth and we did not have to wait for a table. There is seating both inside and out, which helps.

Price-wise, Patty's Place lands where a lot of good brunch places do now: not cheap, not outrageous, just reasonable for the quality and setting. Breakfast for two came out to about $40 with tip, which felt fair for what we got. In 2026, that probably counts as restraint.

Patty's Place is still new, but it already feels like it belongs downtown. It has enough comfort to fit Burgaw, enough style to feel like a step forward, and at least one dish, the pancake tacos, that makes it more than just another breakfast spot.

Practical tips

  • Order the pancake tacos first. That is the standout.
  • Do not overlook the hashbrowns.
  • Good pick for a casual breakfast date or a slower weekend morning downtown.
  • Seating inside and out makes it easier to catch even when it is busy.
  • Pair it with a walk around downtown Burgaw afterward.
